Walk–A–Thon for “Nothing But Nets”

Date:  Saturday, April 27, 2013

Our Nothing But nets Walk-a-Thon was a smashing success.

The weather was beautiful for the 2 mile plus walk.

We had close to 40 walkers total from our church,

Blakeslee UMC, and Bushkill Reformed Church.

The fellowship was great and we are close to netting $2,000.00 for our project.

Thanks again to all who helped to make this possible.

Please go to UMCNothingButNets.org

and make a donation towards ending malaria.

Send a Net. Save a life.

Pocono Lake UMC is now a “Support Church” for Family Promise of Monroe County (FPMC), a non-profit corporation and interfaith hospitality network.  The purpose of FPMC is to provide shelter and opportunities to homeless families in Monroe County.

One of our duties as a “Support Church” is to volunteer to stay overnight at the “Host Church” with their guests.   Another duty is to provide financial and supply needs for the “Host Church”.

Kenyan Mission Trip

On Sunday, May 20th, Robin Miller and Mary Blay from Pocono Lake United Methodist Church traveled on a 14- day mission trip to Kenya, Africa with many blessings from the congregation and friends.

Their itinerary was to include: organizing a library at the Anglican Church of Kenya Learning Center, visiting two hospitals and distributing baby items and fabric to mothers for baby slings, helping the natives gather garden food items and help them experience their first soup kitchen, and visiting an orphanage in Lake Victoria.

Over the years, the Youth Group from Pocono Lake United Methodist Church held many money-making projects to be used for the digging of a well in Africa.
