Pastor Janice Puliti
As a brief introduction, I want to share with you a little bit about my journey: I was raised in the Catholic Church, and after many years of trying to find my place, I accepted a friends’ invitation to join her one Sunday morning at what became my “home” church – Covenant UMC in Springfield, Delaware County. I immediately became involved in missions, outreach, UMW, Bible studies, the handbell choir, and any other ministry that could possibly put up with me lol. I realized almost immediately that God was calling me to ministry in some form, and I began working toward ordination as a Deacon in the UMC with the notion that my ministry would involve nursing – after all, I had worked for a number of years as an R.N. and then as a Nurse Practitioner (and besides, my biggest fear was public speaking!) However, God apparently had another idea. After much prayer and discernment, I completed my M.Div. at Eastern Seminary, was ordained an Elder, and was appointed to serve Ivyland: St. John’s UMC as Associate Pastor. After seven years, I was re-appointed as Senior Pastor and continued to serve in that capacity for another 12 years until retiring from full-time ministry this year and requesting a part-time appointment near my new home in Bear Creek Lakes.
I have a daughter named Allison who is married with 3 children (and expecting a 4th). They live in Lansdowne in Delaware County. My son, Christopher, is deceased and I rejoice in the fact that he is now in glory.
If I was asked to name my top three passions for ministry, I would list worship, missions, and spiritual growth. But in all honesty, I am simply passionate about serving God and loving people!
I like to read, to spend time with friends, and I love living in such a beautiful area of Pennsylvania. I love sitting on my porch and watching the deer roam around my back yard. I am also a dog lover, and I love taking walks and golf cart rides around the community with Ollie, who is my 2-year-old Shetland Sheepdog rescue.
I’m excited to meet all of you, to be in ministry with you, and to see the great possibilities God has in store for all of us and for PLUMC! I hope to meet many of you this Sunday morning and to share Communion with you (we will be using prepackaged Communion elements in compliance with Covid precautions). Remember that the new time of worship is 9:30 a.m.!
